2Our History

In 1941, an engineer named Emil Spilman founded the Metropolitan Metals Company to supply zinc alloys for the war effort. As time progressed, so did the company.  Now we're known throughout the continent as Metropolitan Alloys Corporation, and a proud third generation is involved with the daily operation of the business.

Metropolitan Alloys serves a wide variety of industries including automotive, steel, appliance, electrical, computer, casket and furniture just to name a few.

We are one of the largest suppliers in North America of zinc alloys for die casting and galvanizing, and special high grade zinc ball and bar anodes for electroplating and electrogalvanizing.

Metropolitan Alloys also has a very extensive background in the brokerage of non-ferrous and ferrous metals from prime material to scrap products by leveraging the strong relationships we have built over our 65 + years of doing business.

In 1997, Metropolitan Alloys demonstrated our dedication to quality by becoming the first zinc alloyer and zinc anode manufacturer in North America to receive registration to the ISO-9000 international standard from Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA).  Today we maintain our complete commitment to providing the highest quality products available by maintaining our ISO 9001: 2000 certification along with an A2LA accredited laboratory for chemical testing.
